Entries

Entries for JK25 are now OPEN, and close on 28th March 2025. After the closing date, the only entries that will be possible are Entry on Day of the Non-Competitive Courses. Transferring from a Competitive to a Non-Competitive course on the day will also be possible, subject to map availability.

All Championship Courses are pre-entered by age class (M/W10 - M/W95). All entrants on these courses must either be a member of British Orienteering or an IOF-affiliated Federation. Please note that shadowing is not allowed on Championship Courses.

All three individual days of JK25 will be World Ranking Events for the Elite classes (M/W18E, 20E and 21E). Anyone entering the WREs must provide their IOF ID when entering in order to receive World Ranking points. IOF IDs can be found here.

Any queries may be directed to the Entries Secretaries via the Contact Form.

Start Times

When entering you will be asked to indicate your start time preference. All competitors will be allocated a start time, including those requesting Split starts who will be allocated one early and one late start time. Please note the following regarding start time preferences:

  • Elites – Start times for all competitors on Elite courses will be seeded in order of IOF World Ranking for the Sprint and Middle, with the best starting last. The start order for the Long will be determined by the results of the Middle the previous day. Start time preferences will therefore be ignored, so please bear this in mind if entering with other non-elites.
  • Helpers – Please provide a start time preference, which we will try to accommodate when allocating your helper role. More information about volunteering.

Starts for the Sprint will be between 11am and 3pm. The start window for both the Middle and Long will be from 10am to 2pm.

Relays

Entries for the Relays will open on 16th December 2024, and close on 28th March 2025. Editing team details will remain possible until Sunday 20th April 2025 - the evening before the relays.

Each relay comprises 3 legs that are run consecutively, with mass starts for the first legs taking place between 10am and 11am.

Entry Fees

These prices will remain the same for the entirety of the entry period:

  • Senior Relay Team - £78
  • Junior Relay Team - £39 (Classes K, L, M & N)

Forming Mixed-club Teams

In the event that you wish to participate in the Relays but are unable to form a full team from your club, it will be possible to form a non-competitive team in any relay class, or a competitive team in the Mixed Ad-Hoc class, as per the JK Relay rules.

A dedicated chat is available on the JK25 WhatsApp Community to advertise and find additional team members (a link to join is provided when you enter the individual days via SIEntries). However, an individual from the team must assume responsibility for entering online and collecting bibs on the day, and thus it is up to individuals to liaise privately to provide entry details and send fee payment.

Neighbouring Club Alliances

Junior Relays

This applies to the following Junior classes:

  • N: Mini Relay
  • M: Junior Relay (M/W40-)
  • L: Intermediate Women (W48-)
  • K: Intermediate Men (M48-)

Clubs from the same Association and/or geographically adjacent clubs are permitted to form combined teams (“Alliances”) for participation in the JK Relays. Alliance teams are competitive and will be eligible to win trophies.

Clubs may only combine to enter “Alliance” teams if they have already entered as many complete teams as they are able to in each class.

In circumstances where combined teams are formed, clubs must pick their best runners for their own club team or teams before seeking to form an alliance to give their additional junior orienteers the opportunity to run in the competition. Any attempt by clubs to do otherwise may lead to their alliance team being declared non-competitive. The spirit of this initiative is, therefore, that clubs form teams from their own members and are encouraged to develop their own club juniors; it is not the intention for 'elite' teams to be formed.

JK Men's and Women's Trophy

As per JK Relay Rules 2.1.2, competitive Alliances are also permitted in the JK (Men's) Trophy and Women's Trophy classes. Two clubs that wish to form such an Alliance must satisfy the following criteria:

  • The two clubs must be geographically adjacent
  • Neither club has fielded a team that finished in the top ten of the overall UK Relay league standings in the previous year in either the Men's or Women's competitions as appropriate

Any clubs wishing to form an Alliance in the Trophy classes must notify the JK Coordinator by 31st January 2025 in order for their Alliance to be approved.
