The Midlands 29th March - 1st April

JK 2025 will be in South Yorkshire, organised by YHOA. The usual format of Sprint/Middle/Long/Relay will be offered over the 4 Day Easter weekend of 18th - 21st April 2025. There will also be Trail O on Days 1 & 2.

Compact event

With the sprint race in Sheffield City Centre and the forest races only a few miles further north, competitors will be able to base themselves in or near Sheffield, with the option of using public transport, and allowing time to explore the vibrant City of Sheffield & South Yorkshire's cultural gems.

The Outdoor City

The City of Sheffield has been important in British orienteering history with several British Team members choosing to live & train here (particularly for their student years) including medallists Jamie Stevenson, Kris Jones, Charlotte Ward and Ralph Street.

Technically challenging terrain

The local terrain, characterised by natural geological features with historic quarry & mine workings, will provide suitable interest & challenge for all:

  • Wharncliffe hosted JK 1978 and competition will return there for the Long in 2025

  • Tankersley hosted the British Relays in 2011 and the Compasssport Cup Final in 2021 and will make for a technical and fast Middle.

We look forward to welcoming orienteers from near and far to South Yorkshire next year!
