Putting the Festival into JK25
Climbing Wall
True to the Outdoor City name, at the Sprint you'll be able to have a go for free on a climbing wall erected especially for JK25 in the Arena at the heart of the City Centre. And with it only being Day 1, you'll hopefully have lots of energy left to give it a go!
Biathlon Orienteering
Courtesy of the Swedish Multisport Federation, you'll once again be able to try your hand at Biathlon-O with electronic rifles and short orienteering loops. Get the hang of the format on Day 2, before competing in (we think) the first civilian Biathlon-O competition in the UK! Entry is FREE, with no need to pre-register. More details below.
String Course & Mazes
On Day 2 we will be offering a Maze, and on Day 3 a String Course, both free and aimed predominantly (but not exclusively!) at children. Participants will receive a small prize on completion.
Commentary Shoutouts - submit here
As if all the above fun wasn't enough, we're also providing a facility to send in shoutout requests to the Commentary Team. Whether it's to celebrate a significant anniversary, thank a fellow competitor for an act of kindness, or let us know a fun fact - we want to hear from you! Shoutouts can be submitted now in advance, and for the duration of, the event, and we hope it'll be a fun addition to JK25.
Participation Certificates
Participation certificates and stickers will be available for young juniors from Enquiries on all days - and the Maze / String Course on Days 2 & 3 - as a nice memento of JK25.
NEW - Relay Airhorn Operatives Competition
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 3 lucky Juniors to become airhorn operatives on Day 4. Fill out this form to get a chance to blow the starting airhorn for the first three Mass Starts (JK Trophy, JK Women's Trophy and Mini Relay).

Biathlon Orienteering
Sunday 20th March 2025 will see the hosting of what we believe to be the first formal civilian Biathlon Orienteering competition in the UK, from the JK25 Day 3 Arena at Wharncliffe! JK25 is greatly assisted by Hans Mandahl and his team from the Biathlon Orienteering section of the Swedish Multisport Federation in putting on this Competition.
The Competition is a mix of orienteering and electronic rifle target shooting. You can get in some shooting practice on Day 2, which will be a similar setup as at the JK last year. Biathlon will open at 10:00 and close at 15:00 on both days.
The format of the competition is two 370-metre orienteering laps on a new, 1:1000 map of Peat's Wood which neighbours the Arena field, and target shooting. The map is double-sided. Competitors will run the first lap, shoot, one penalty lap of 30 metres for each target missed if required, run the second lap, shoot and then either finish or one penalty lap of 30 metres for each target missed and then Finish.
Entry is FREE, with no prior registration required; just turn up at the BiathlonO. Please bring your SI card and wear your JK competition bib. Competitors will be briefed before they start.
Medals will be awarded at the Day 3 prizegiving for the following classes: M16-, W16-, M18 to M45, W18 to W45, M50+ and W50+
